In a lot of ways, Kickstarter is supposed to free you from revenue projections. CEO Perry Chen tells the story of wanting to see if there was enough interest in an event before committing the money and effort to hosting it. You just throw up a Kickstarter page, send it around, see if it gets people excited enough. If so, you do it. If not, you walk away, no harm done.
